A Guide to Running Costs
All refrigeration-based equipment
benefits from a quality called "the coefficient
of performance" or energy efficiency
ratio.
In simple terms this means that you get between
2.5 kilowatts to 3 kilowatts of cooling and
heating energy for every 1 kilowatt of electrical
power consumed. This is achieved because the
generated supply runs the heat pump and transfers
heat energy from inside to outside and vice
versa.
To establish an approximate idea of running
costs per day, first determine the total capacity
in kilowatts of the equipment and divide that
figure by 2.5, multiply the result by the
number of hours per day that the equipment
is likely to be running and divide that figure
by the cost of electricity measured in pence
per kilowatt hour (this will vary with specific
consumers).
